Table of Contents

Thailand is one of the most popular holiday destinations in 2025. Every year, many tourists from India choose Thailand for a memorable vacation. You might be one of them, now exploring information about weather in Thailand and the best time to visit.

Here at TripFactory, we’ve shared detailed information about the weather in Thailand by season and month. This information has been provided by our Thailand travel expert. You’ll find everything you need to know about temperature, sunshine, humidity, and rainfall during the summer, monsoon, and winter seasons, along with monthly breakdowns.

Thailand enjoys three clear seasons that follow one after another. For six months the sky often stays cloudy and heavy rains fall in many parts of the country. After the rain stops, a gentle winter arrives for three months and brings cool and dry air that feels fresh and calm. When winter ends, hot summer days return for the next three months and the sun shines with full strength.

Summer in Thailand

The weather in Thailand during summer comes with strong heat, bright sunshine and high humidity. It usually starts in March and goes till May, and in some places it stretches into June before the heavy monsoon rains begin.

During this season, the day temperature stays around 32–35°C. In April and early May, the heat rises the most and can even touch 40°C. Because of the humidity, the weather feels even hotter than it is, and people start sweating quickly.

In March and April, the weather stays dry with a lot of sunshine. But by May and June, the monsoon slowly starts, and many parts of Thailand begin to get rain. For example, in Bangkok, summer starts dry but rainfall gradually increases as the days pass.

The midday sun feels very strong and can make you tired if you stay outside too long. Sweating is common and sometimes the air feels heavy and sticky. Nights are warm too, so there is only a little relief from the heat.

Still, summer has its charm. The bright mornings and evenings are perfect for beach trips and outdoor fun. The sea stays warm and inviting in many coastal areas.

Monsoon in Thailand

Monsoon season in Thailand usually begins in May and continues till October. During these months the country receives most of its yearly rainfall and the weather becomes warm, humid, and full of moisture. The air feels heavy but nature turns fresh and green.

The southwest monsoon brings this rain from the Indian Ocean. In the early months of the season from May to July, rain often falls in short heavy showers followed by clear skies. As the season reaches its peak from August to October, rainfall becomes stronger and more regular. Some places even face waterlogging or floods during this time.

Different parts of Thailand experience the monsoon in different ways. In northern and central Thailand the rainy season follows the usual May to October pattern. The southern part of the country has two coastlines with separate weather systems. The Andaman Sea side including Phuket and Krabi gets heavy rain from April to October. The Gulf of Thailand side like Koh Samui and Hua Hin receives most of its rain later from September to December.

Rainfall amounts also vary across the country. Southern provinces on the wind-facing coast sometimes receive more than 4,000 mm of rain in a year. In most other regions the monsoon brings around 1,200 to 1,700 mm of rainfall annually. Temperatures stay warm but the rising humidity makes the weather feel hotter and more tropical.

Even though the monsoon brings extra rain, it also adds natural beauty. The mountains look greener, rice fields fill with water, and waterfalls flow with full power. For travellers who are comfortable with occasional rain, this season offers peaceful landscapes, fewer tourists, and lower prices in many destinations.

Still, it is better to stay cautious during the wet season. Sudden heavy showers, flash floods, and rough sea waves can appear without warning especially in the later months of the monsoon. Travellers should check weather updates, choose safe accommodation in higher areas, and keep some flexibility in their travel plans.

Overall, the monsoon season in Thailand brings dramatic skies, rich greenery, warm weather, and a quieter travel experience. With smart planning you can enjoy the country from a fresh perspective during this rainy yet beautiful time of year.

Winter in Thailand

Winter in Thailand starts in November and continues till February. People enjoy this season the most because the weather turns cool, dry, and pleasant. According to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), average winter temperatures stay between 18°C to 32°C depending on the region. Humidity also goes down and rain almost disappears, so travelling becomes easy and comfortable.

Northern Thailand which includes Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai feels the coldest during winter. Mountain areas sometimes touch 10°C or even lower in December and January. Many travellers visit the hills during this time to enjoy the cold winds, morning fog, and magical sunrise views over the mountains.

Central Thailand including Bangkok becomes less hot in winter. Days feel warm with temperatures between 28°C and 32°C while evenings become pleasantly cool around 20°C to 24°C. Air pollution sometimes increases in Bangkok during this season due to slow winds, yet tourists still explore the city without much difficulty.

Southern Thailand experiences a slightly different winter climate. The Andaman Sea coast which covers Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga enjoys clear skies and calm blue waters. This weather creates the best time for beach holidays, boat trips, and scuba diving. The Gulf of Thailand side such as Koh Samui and Surat Thani may receive some rain in November because of the northeast monsoon but it usually stops by mid December.

Winter also brings many colourful festivals to Thailand. Famous celebrations like Loy Krathong in November and New Year events attract travellers from all over the world. With pleasant weather and beautiful nature, winter becomes the perfect season to visit Thailand and enjoy both adventure and culture.
