How to Reach Thailand from Kerala?

The best and most common way to reach Thailand from Chennai  is by air travel. There are multiple direct and connecting flights from Cochin International Airport (COK) in Kerala to popular Thailand cities such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi.

By Flight

You can fly directly from Kerala to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang Airport) in approximately 4 to 5 hours. Airlines such as Thai Airways, IndiGo, AirAsia, and SpiceJet operate daily flights. Round trip fares typically range from ₹10,000 to ₹30,000, depending on the season and how early you book.

Entry Airports in Thailand

  • Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK)
  • Don Mueang Airport (DMK)
  • Phuket International Airport (HKT)
  • Krabi International Airport (KBV)

Visa Process

Indian citizens generally do not require a visa for tourism or business visits to Thailand for stays of up to 60 days. However, they will need to apply for a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) three days in advance of their arrival. For longer stays or other purposes, a visa might be necessary. Then in that case there are 3 types of visa one might need to avail. Those are tourist visa, visa on arrival and E Visa.

Other Routes (Not Recommended)

Traveling from India to Thailand by train or bus is not an option, as no direct services is there between the two nation. While road travel is possible via the India and Myanmar Highway, it requires multiple permits, documentation, and can take several days.

Best Time to Visit Thailand from Kerala

The best time to visit Thailand from Kerala depends on the weather, your travel preferences, and the activities you plan to do. Generally, November to February is considered the ideal time to visit Thailand.

November to February

November to February is the best time to visit Thailand, when you can see the true colours of this tropical destination. The temperature in Thailand ranges between 22°C and 32°C during these months. The expected rainfall is also low, not exceeding 50 mm. This means you can enjoy all your favourite outdoor activities, like lounging on the beach or strolling, without any interruptions. The weather in Thailand is truly favourable from November to February, which makes it the best time to visit Thailand. During this period, there are no concerns about heavy rainfall or high humidity. It’s also the time for some prominent festivals in Bangkok, such as the Royal Barge Procession, Christmas Eve, New Year celebrations, and Asiatique.

March to May

The months between winter and summer, as well as those transitioning from the rainy season to winter, generally fall under the shoulder season in Thailand. If you’re planning a trip to Thailand during these months, there’s a good chance you’ll find budget-friendly deals since these months are neither part of the low season nor the peak season. The shoulder season in Thailand typically falls between March to May. These months don’t attract many tourists to Thailand since they’re not peak months. The weather during this period is not as favourable for outdoor activities in Thailand.

June to October

May to October is considered the low season in Thailand, typically marked by the monsoon season. During this time, you’ll find more affordable deals since it’s neither the peak nor the shoulder season in Thailand. However, you can expect unpredictable weather conditions, with high humidity and hotter daytime temperatures, while the nights are comparatively cooler. Rain is frequent during this period in Thailand. The low season runs from May to October, and it transitions into the peak season, which begins in November and ends in February. During the low season, temperatures in Thailand can rise as high as 34°C, with the city experiencing the highest rainfall of the year. This can make outdoor activities difficult at times.
