This is the world’s largest Buddha image, featuring gold inlaid precision laser technology. Beyoind its grandeur, the site is a tranquil space enveloped in fruit trees and vegetation and still gardens. While being a favourite tour destination, the place is spiritual as well with a perfect combination of cultural values and natural beauty rarely found amid Pattaya’s chaos. Many travellers choose to include this remarkable attraction in their Thailand tour package, making it a highlight of their journey.

History of the Buddha Mountain

Buddha Mountain In the year 1996 a huge Buddha image has been created to celebrate the occasion of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Golden Jubilee on the 50 anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne. The King commissioned this project and it was created with the latest laser engravings. The carved outline was filled with Threads of gold making it not only a religious symbol but also very beautiful piece of art.

The greenery of the area can be attributed to planting done under the Siri Charoenwat Forest Plantation Project. Started by King Bhumibol in 1992 to mark Queen Sirikit’s 60th birthday, the project turned what was a deficit rice planting area into lush land with teak, acacia and rosewood trees as well as fruit trees. The combination of the engraving and replantation has transformed Khao Chi Chan into a revered spiritual and traditional monument.
