1) GANGTOK: The capital city of Sikkim has a spectacular view of Mount Kanchenjunga. .Some key places to visit, namely the Rumtek monastery, Do Drul Chorten, Tashi View Point and Enchay Monastery. 

2) TSOMGO LAKE: Also known as Changgu Lake, situated at the height of 12,400 feet, is a glacial lake in Sikkim which is a major tourist attraction.

PLACES TO VISIT IN DARJEELING

 

BATASIA LOOP: It is a spectacular toy train loop set among the beautiful mountain slopes. It offers a view of the snow capped Mt.Kanchenjunga and the lush valley as the miniature train traverses through the loop. The flower adorned walk towards the loop from Tiger Hill is magnificent.

DARJEELING HIMALAYAN RAILWAY: It is an 88-km small gauge rail running from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. It provides a spectacular view of the foggy mountains and lush valleys. Operating from 8 am to 12 pm, the admission price is 600 INR for diesel engine rides and 1,000 INR for steam engine rides.

DARJEELING RANGIT VALLEY ROPEWAY: It was established in 1968 and has 16 cable cars holding at least 6 passengers each, running from North Point in Singmari to Singla Bazaar, which enables passengers to get stunning photos of the town. It offers a panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga peak, the tea gardens, the lush valleys and the vast landscapes.

SANDAKPHU TREK: At an altitude of 11,929 feet it is one of the most famous treks  and a rhododendron filled path. The Sleeping Buddha and the Everest cluster are major points of the trek that are especially looked forward to by trekkers.

TIGER HILL: Tiger hill is one of the most renowned hills of Darjeeling where every year hundreds of tourists flock to see the magnificent sunrise and its effect on the mountain ranges. Ideal visiting seasons are October to December in winter and February to April in Autumn.. 

GHOOM MONASTERY: Also known as Yiga Choeling, it stands at a height of roughly 8,000 feet and is considered to be the oldest Tibetan monastery in the area. Founded by Lama Sherab Gyatso, it is famous for its 15 feet tall Maitreya Buddha statue in the main hall and also contains an important collection of ancient Buddhist writings. It is adorned with Buddhist teachings and Tibetan art on its walls which make it even more interesting. On the top of the hill there is a temple devoted to Ma Kali. 

ROCK GARDEN DARJEELING: The Rock Garden is a man made wonder that is frequented by tourists all year round. It has the Chunar waterfall flowing through it, attracting its visitors even further. It is located on Rock Garden Road inside Bloomfield Tea Garden.
