In the year 2023, Dubai has welcomed 17.15 million international tourists, which shows a year-on-year growth of 19.4% as compared to that of the year 2022 that catered 4.36 million tourists. Recently, Dubai has introduced a five-year multiple entry visa for Indian travelers to develop a more sustainable & better foreign relation with India.

This decision will help foster tourism and business operations. This program helps in obtaining a visa for Dubai within a tenure of 2 to 5 working days, allowing a stay at Dubai for 90 days and can be extended up to 180 days within a year. This flexible visa service helps in catering to both business travelers and leisure purposes.

This initiative also allows tourists to gain multiple entry and exit, offering operational flexibility to the passengers. A surge in Indian tourism highlights the appeal of Dubai as a preferred travel location aligns with their visionary goal that has been stated in their Agenda, D33.

This agenda has been developed under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai and highlights the idea of Dubai being the global hub for leisure, business and offering high end facilities and services.

The Regional Head of Proximity Markets, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Bader Ali Habib had expressed the essential role of Indian tourists for the success of Dubai’s tourism. He also highlights the five-year multiple-entry visa initiative as an effective milestone to foster economic collaboration between the two nations.

Bader Ali Habib further stated that this testament of Dubai to India shows high possibilities of growth and operational enhancement due to exceptional flight connectivity, multicultural setting, tourists attraction site and abundant hotels to cater to the taste and expectation of the tourists. DET stated that India and UAE are key economic partners that have trade ties and diplomatic cooperation over a long time period.

  1. According to PTI, which used the most recent DET statistics, 2.46 million Indian overnight guests visited Dubai in 2023 — a 25% rise over the pre-pandemic period.
  2. According to the statistics, this elevated the nation to the top source market. “The city had 1.97 million visitors from India in 2019 compared to 1.84 million in the same time last year,” the statement said. The research went on to say that India “continued to be the number one source market with the biggest number of foreign visitors from a single country,” growing at a rate of 34% annually.
  3. The Department of Economic Transformation (DET) said that Dubai has implemented a five-year multiple-entry visa with the aim of promoting business and tourism as well as long-term economic cooperation.
  4. This development also reveals that the visa, which is granted after 2—5 working days of receiving and approving the service request, permits the bearer to remain in the nation for 90 days, with the option to extend this term once for an additional 90 days, with a maximum stay of 180 days in a single year.
  5. DET said, “Tourists may take advantage of several entry and exits via this effort, offering operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connection.” “Our inbound tourism from India was exceptional in 2023, helping our tourist industry achieve a record-breaking success,” the statement said.

According to Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, “India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a hub for business, investment, and tourism.”
  7. In addition, Bader Ali Habib said that this historic milestone project would provide a platform for further economic cooperation in addition to providing Indian visitors with a lengthier and more richer experience, PTI reported.
    “We are confident that our upcoming initiatives will further amplify awareness about Dubai’s diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions, continuing to make it the top travel choice for Indian tourists,” he continued. “We have exceptional flight connectivity, and we are committed to the Indian market.”
  8. The number of foreign overnight visitors to Dubai in 2023 was 17.15 million, up 19.4% from the 14.36 million arrivals in 2022, according to DET statistics.
