Day 3: Full Day Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfasts proceed for full day sightseeing visiting:

National Memorial Chorten stupa was built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan's third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who is popularly regarded as Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.

Tashichho Dzong also know as "fortress of the glorious religion", it was initially built in 1641 and later rebuilt in its present form by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk in 1965. The Dzong houses, main secretariat building which houses the throne room of His Majesty, the King of Bhutan. The National Assembly Hall is housed in a modern building on the other side of the river from the Dzong. During the warmer summer months, the monk body headed by His Holiness, the Je Khenpo, makes its home in the Dzong. Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) is located at a short drive from Thimphu city centre, visitors can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley from the Buddha point (Kuensel Phodrang). You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

Changangkha Lhakhang is a fortress like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimphu, south of Motithang. The temple was established in 12th century on a site chosen by Lama Phajo Drugom Shigpo, who came from Tibet. The central statue here is Chenrezig in a manifestation with 11 heads. From temple courtyard, there is fascinating view of Thimphu valley. 

Motithang Takin Preserve located in the Motithang district of Thimphu, Bhutan is a wildlife reserve area for takin, the national animal of Bhutan

Drubthob Goema/Zilukha Nunnery  is perched on a promontory, overlooking picturesque Trashichhoedzong and Golf course, it is the only nunnery in capital known as Zilukha Anim Dratsang, once belonged to the Drubthob (Realized one) Thang Thong Gyalpo often referred to as The King of the open field (In the early 15th century with his multiple talents he popularly became the Leonardo da Vinci of the Great Himalayas). You may interact here with some of the nuns who have devoted their life to spirituality and Buddhism.

Institute for Zorig Chusum is commonly known as Arts & Crafts School or Painting School, the Institute offers a six-year course on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. On a visit, one can see students learning the various skills taught at the school (Closed on Saturday , Sunday, National Holiday & During Summer & Winter Vacations).

National Textile Museum was opened under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Sangay Choden, Bhutanese textile have reached new heights as one of the most visible distinct art form. The textile museum has opened its exhibition on six major themes - warp pattern weaves, weft pattern weaves, role of textiles in religion, achievements in textile arts, textiles from indigenous fibers and the royal collection. The crowns of Bhutan's Kings, namzas (dresses), the first version of Royal Crown and other accessories used by members of Royal family can be found in the museum. The goal of the museum is to gradually become a center for textile studies that will carry out documentation, research and studies on Bhutanese textiles (Closed on Saturday, Sunday & National Holiday).

Zangthopelri Lhakhang Monastery present structure was built in 1960s and although lacking the charm of many of the older temples, Zangthoo pelri still possesses some impressive murals and art treasures and is worthy of a visit. The site of the temple was a former battle ground, and the temple was constructed there in order to pacify energies.

Later return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer From Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue & Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive towards Punakha / Wangdue. On the way stop at Dochu-La-Pass to view the higher Himalayas.

Dochula Pass is a mountain pass in the snow covered Himalayas within Bhutan on the road from Thimpu to Punakha where 108 memorial chortens or stupas known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens" have been built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother. Apart from the chortens there is a monastery called the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple), built in honour of the fourth Druk Gyalpo (head of the state of Bhutan), Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The open grounds in its front yard is a venue for the annual Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival.

Arrival at Punakha & check in to the hotel. Afterwards, proceed for Punaka/Wangdue sightseeing visiting:

Punakha Dzong is built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637, by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region, Punakha Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan's history. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has been fully restored by the present King. The Dzong is open for visitors during Punakha festival and in summer months when the monk body moves to Thimphu. Take a short break and easy hike to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang also known as “The Temple of Fertility”

Chimi Lhakhang situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humour, songs and outrageous behavior to dramatise his teachings and due to this also known as "Divine Madman". This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon.

Day 5:Day Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha)

After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey. Gangtey is the home of Black Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of Bhutan.

Black Necked Crane or Thrung Trung Karmo as this bird is passionately known in Bhutan is subject of many Bhutanese songs and folklore. They are seen among the painting on the walls of temples and Thankga. These endangered species of cranes migrate from Tibet in late autumn and typically stay till the mid march. The wetland in the center of Phobjikha valley provides the nesting grounds and natural habitat for these black necked cranes. Black Necked Crane Information Centre is situated on the edge of the forest and wetland along the main road of Phobjikha valley, has an observation room equipped with high power telescope and spotting scopes for catching the best view of the cranes. The centre also offers display information that outline the natural and cultural history of the area.

Later you can also visit Gangtey Gompha. Gangtey Gompha sits atop a hillock that overlooks the Phobjikha valley. It is headed by the ninth Gangtey Trulku and is the largest Nyingma monastery in western Bhutan. It was founded in 1613 by Gyalse Pema Thinlay, a grandson and reincarnation of influential treasure finder Pema Lingpa. An incarnate line of Pema Thinlay, representing the body aspects of Pema Lingpa, contrasted with mind and speech emanations. The monastery has been recently built and surrounding the monastery are village homes and hermitages.

Day 6: Transfer from Punakha/Wangdue to Paro With Visit to Royal Botanical Garden + Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive towards Paro. En route, visit the Royal Botanical Garden, Lamperi, a serene stop nestled amidst lush greenery. The garden is home to a wide variety of rhododendron species, native plants, and scenic walking trails, making it a perfect place to experience Bhutan’s natural beauty. On arrival in Paro, check in at the hotel and freshen up. Later, proceed for local sightseeing in Paro. Visit Rinpung Dzong, also known as the “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” which offers stunning architecture and views of the valley. Next, explore the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a watchtower above the Dzong. The museum showcases a fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangka paintings, and Bhutan’s cultural artifacts. Later, stroll through the charming Paro town, where you can explore traditional Bhutanese shops and cafés at your own pace. Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay at Paro hotel.

Day 7: Day Excursion to Chele-La-Pass

After breakfast, proceed to Chele-La-Pass the highest motorable road in Bhutan.

Chele-La-Pass 35km drive makes an interesting road excursion and is an excellent jumping-off point for day walks. Chele la separates Haa and Paro valley and at 3810m, it is one of the highest motor able pass in Bhutan. The drive till here from either Paro or Haa is through dense spruce and larch forests according to the seasons. On a clear day, there are spectacular views of Mt. Jumolhari, Jichu Drake and adjoining peaks to the North West, as well as the view of Haa and Paro valley.

Later back to Paro & rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Paro hotel.

Day 8: Day Excursion to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest Monastery)

Start the day early for a day hike to Taktsang Lhakhang (Tiger's Nest Monastery) - The hike which is all the way uphill takes about 2/3 hours one way through pine forests. Taktshang Lhakhang (Tiger's Nest) is one of the most famous of Bhutan's monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called "Tiger's Nest". This site has been recognized as a most sacred place and visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendour.

Later return to Paro. Evening visit Local Market for Shopping. Overnight stay at Paro hotel.

Hotel Cancellation Policy
  • Hotel cancellation will be as per the hotel cancellation policy. If the hotels are non-refundable, you will not get any refund for hotels in the event of cancellation.
  • Any transfers or activities included in the trip will be non-refundable if cancelled within 3 days of the travel start date, unless otherwise specified during the quotation stage in the "Points to Note" section. Some services handle different cancellation policies and they must be respected accordingly.
  • Entrance tickets of any kind are non-refundable from the moment of booking, unless specified otherwise
  • There will be also a service charge of 5% on total value in case of cancellation of Land and 5% on total value for any amendments.
  • Hotel room allocation will be subject to availability and will be on a first come first serve basis.
  • Any transfers or activities included in the trip will be non-refundable if cancelled within 3 days of the travel start date.
Payment Policies
  • You can pay using credit cards, debit cards, net banking, PayPal, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS or SWIFT.
  • We charge non-refundable financing fees for overdue amounts: 1. Financing charges: 1% per day of pending amount, compounding per day 2. Processing charges for financing: 5% per week of pending amount or INR 10,000 per week, whichever is lower; from 2nd week.
  • We reserve the right to cancel your trip without notice after due date. Any cancellation costs will be borne by you.
  • If the above-mentioned payment terms are not followed, we will not be held responsible for any change made in the package itinerary due to non-availability of flights, Hotels, Ferry etc.
  • There might be an increase in total package cost offered at the time of bookings in case the payments are not received by us as per the terms mentioned and the extra cost need to be borne by the guest.
