Samdruptse Guide

Samdruptse Hill is a popular tourist attraction near Namchi that attracts a number of tourists from different parts of India. You can witness the world’s tallest statue of Guru Padmasambhava 148 feet on this hill that is surrounded by lush green vegetation.

This magnificent statue can be spotted from a long distance that offers an amazing view to the tourists. While walking uphill, you will find that the statue sits on a pedestal that is shaped like a lotus. The most attractive thing about the statue is its eyes which present him as a wrathful deity.  This form of wide-open-eyes meditation highlights the highest form of awareness.

It took 7 years for the Government of Sikkim to complete this statue and make it a marvel by combining engineering and art. The foundation stone of this statue was laid by the Dalai Lama himself. You can spot an archive of vintage photographs at the base of the statue as well as a small prayer room.
