Rabdentse Ruins Guide

Rabdentse Ruin is a beautiful location that has a rich history and testifies to the ancient glory of Sikkim. The ruins are located on Pelling-Geyzing road from where you need to trek amidst the chestnut forests to reach the ruins. Now you can witness the debris and broken structure that was earlier in the medieval capital. This monastery is surrounded by lofty hills that offer panoramic views from that sight.

There you can see Namphogang, which are three tall chortens that are placed on an elevated platform. Next to these lies the King’s throne made of stone, which is still intact. In the northern part of the ruins, you can witness the derelict Dab Lhagang, which was also the site for offering prayers for the royal family. The ASI (Archeological Board of India) has identified some of the important areas of these ruins such as the public courtyard, royal kitchen, assembly room, guard rooms, and King’s personal quarter.
