Whether you're coming from Kolkata or Delhi, you can get down at NJP and then take the famous toy train to Darjeeling. However, tickets for the toy train should be booked a few days in advance. The journey takes around 6–7 hours, and the fare ranges between ₹1500 to ₹2000. If you can book Darjeeling tour package from NJP

By Bus

Yes, you can also travel to Darjeeling by bus. First, you need to reach the Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminal (easily accessible by auto or toto from the airport or railway station). From there, NBSTC buses depart for Darjeeling daily at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased both online and offline, and the fare is ₹105.

Best Time for Darjeeling Trip

April To June (Summer)

April to June is the best time for a Darjeeling Trip. Why? During these summer months, the temperature ranges between 13°C to 22°C, making the weather pleasant and comfortable. This is the ideal season to enjoy all kinds of activities, explore the beauty of Darjeeling, and catch the amazing sunrise views from Tiger Hill.

October to February (Winter)

During Winter, the temperature ranges between 2°C and 10°C, and all of Darjeeling is wrapped in winter chill. Higher Altitude places like Sandakphu or Tiger Hill may even receive snowfall (occasionally). Most days are foggy, and visibility can be low, making it hard to enjoy distant views. However, if you're a couple or someone who loves the winter vibe, this season still offers a cozy and memorable experience.

July To October (Monsoon)

During this time, Darjeeling experiences frequent and continuous rainfall. If you're planning a trip in this season, chances are high that you’ll get caught in the rain. The constant showers can limit outdoor activities and block the views, often leaving you stuck in your hotel waiting for the rain to stop. However, the upside is that this is the off-season, so you can get the Darjeeling tour package at a very low price, as fewer tourists visit Darjeeling during this season.
