Sikkim by Train

There isn’t a well-planned rail line in Sikkim. The New Jalpaiguri railway station in Siliguri is the closest train station to Gangtok. With excellent connections to important cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, and New Delhi, it is just around 148 kilometers away.

From the New Jalpaiguri train station, one may go farther via car. As an alternative, you may drive to the Siliguri bus station and board a state-run bus to go to Gangtok, or you can hire a cab to get there. It would take the bus five to six hours to get to Gangtok.
