According to Raja Yaqoob, Director of Tourism Kashmir, the goal is to further improve gender parity in the tourism industry and instill confidence among the female tourists, who account for approximately fifty per cent of all tourists who come to Kashmir Valley।
Kashmir Tourism Department will train and register one hundred female tour guides.In accordance with the Director of Tourism Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob, the plan is to reduce the gender gap in the tourism sector. This will also help in boosting the confidence among the female tourists which contributes to 50% of the tourist footfall in the Kashmir valley.
Thus, in an effort towards promoting gender parity in tourism activities and boosting tourism, the Directorate of Kashmir has decided to enroll more female tourist guides and offer them professional training to polish their skills. A batch of 100 females will be trained after registering with the department.
According to the Director of Tourism Kashmir, this will also help in promoting gender equality and bring a sense of confidence among the female tourists which would also professionalise and improve he service delivery system in the tourism sector of Kashmir.
The Director of Tourism Kashmir also celebrated National Tourism Day on the very day of the announcement across different tourists spot in Kashmir such as Yousmarg, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgham.
