Russia is set to introduce visa-free entry for Indian travelers by spring 2025.
The initiative was announced by Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, to boost Indian tourism to Moscow.
Visa-free travel aims to make Moscow more accessible for Indian tourists, attracting a larger number of visitors.
Over 28,500 Indian tourists visited Moscow in the first half of 2024, marking a 1.5-fold increase from the same period in 2023.
India was a top non-CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) country for Moscow tourism in 2023, with a 26% increase from 2022.
Indian travelers can currently apply for an e-visa, which is processed in about four days.
In 2023, over 9,500 e-visas were issued to Indian citizens, with 1,700 granted in January 2024 alone.
The visa-free policy is part of a larger effort to boost cultural and economic ties between India and Russia.
The initiative aims to provide Indian tourists with a hassle-free travel experience in Russia.
This policy is expected to position Moscow as a top destination for Indian travelers, encouraging more tourism and enhancing India-Russia relations.
