IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost carrier, introduced its first-ever business-class service, called IndiGo Stretch.
The inaugural flight with business-class seats took off from Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM) on November 14, 2024, as flight 6E6814.
The first aircraft fitted with IndiGo Stretch seating is identified as VT-ICF, which arrived in India following the airline’s August announcement.
The flight departed from Delhi at 7:08 AM local time and landed in Mumbai at 8:48 AM after a smooth journey lasting about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was onboard the inaugural flight, along with aviation enthusiasts and prominent writers, marking the occasion.
The launch event included a lamp-lighting ceremony and cake-cutting, creating a festive atmosphere to celebrate this milestone.
Pieter Elbers emphasized IndiGo’s new slogan, “IndiGo Means Business,” highlighting the airline’s commitment to meeting the needs of business travelers.
IndiGo operates 2,200 flights daily, which averages to more than one takeoff and landing per minute, illustrating its vast operational scale.
Fleet and Operations
Passengers on the flight praised the new business-class experience, with Elbers noting strong alignment with Indian travelers’ evolving expectations.
IndiGo aims to roll out the IndiGo Stretch seating option on additional high-demand metro routes, enhancing its premium offering across the network.
