Vietnam Plans to Relax Visa Rules to Attract More Indian Tourists
Vietnam is set to ease visa regulations for Indian travelers, aiming to boost tourism from one of its fastest-growing markets. A senior Vietnamese diplomat confirmed on Monday that the government is actively considering a new visa policy to facilitate smoother entry for Indian tourists.

Vietnam Exploring New Visa Policies for Indian Tourists
Le Quang Bien, Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai, highlighted the immense tourism potential of the Southeast Asian nation. Known for its stunning beaches, rivers, and Buddhist pagodas, Vietnam has been witnessing a steady rise in Indian visitors. Speaking at the “Da Nang Tourism Roadshow” in Ahmedabad, he noted the strong bilateral ties between the two countries and Vietnam’s commitment to enhancing travel access.
“At present, we have an e-visa system, but no visa-on-arrival for Indian tourists. However, we are actively considering new visa policies to make travel easier for visitors from India and other countries,” Bien stated.
Da Nang Emerging as a Top Choice for Indian Travelers
Another Vietnamese official emphasized that the country is taking strategic steps to position Da Nang as a preferred destination for Indian travelers. Known for its scenic coastline, historical sites, and vibrant cultural scene, Da Nang has become a major attraction for Indian tourists.
“India plays a crucial role in our tourism growth plans for Da Nang. We are committed to understanding and catering to Indian travelers’ preferences, ensuring the city becomes more accessible and appealing to them,” said Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center.
Lan further elaborated that Da Nang is refining its tourism offerings, particularly for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and wedding tourism. With deep market insights and collaborations with Indian travel stakeholders, the city is enhancing service packages tailored for Indian visitors.
Surge in Indian Tourists to Da Nang
Since 2022, India has ranked among the top five international tourism markets for Da Nang. In 2024 alone, the city welcomed over 222,000 Indian travelers, accounting for 5.3% of total international arrivals and nearly 50% of all Indian visitors to Vietnam.
Compared to 2019, the number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has skyrocketed by over 13.5 times, reflecting a growing interest in the city’s attractions. As Vietnam’s third-largest city and a key economic and cultural hub, Da Nang is recognized as a premier beach destination. It has also gained accolades such as “Asia’s Leading Event and Festival Destination” by the World Travel Awards, further solidifying its global appeal.
