Highest number of passengers at Dubai Airport are Indians with 88.8 million Passengers

India is at the top position in the list for highest number of passengers flying through Dubai International Airport. It is counted among the world’s busiest airports with about 11.9 million travelers according to the announcement by the Airport on Monday.

Dubai Airport is, also known as DXB, not only crossed over its yearly forecast but also all levels of pre pandemic traffic as well. In 2023, DXB witnessed the highest number of passengers, reaching about 86.9 million passengers, and after that, it continuously increased year after year by about 31.7 percent. 

In December, only Dubai International Airport was seen as the busiest one in its fourth quarter, and during that time, the airport welcomed overall 22.4 million guests, which was a sudden growth of 13.8 percent as compared to Q4 of the previous year. Q3 was set as the quarter with the highest traffic since the pre-pandemic, with about 23 million guests, while August, with 7.9 million visitors, was also the month with the highest traffic. 

Dubai International Airport is presently linked with 262 destinations in about 104 countries through 102 international carriers as per 2023 data reports. India holds the top position among destination countries with a total traffic of 11.9 million visitors, followed by South Arabia with 6.7 million visitors and the UK with about 5.9 million visitors. Other countries that have positions on the list include Pakistan, with 4.2 million visitors; the US, with 3.6 million visitors; Russia, with 2.5 million visitors; and Germany, with 2.5 million visitors.

In 2023, Dubai airport processed 77.5 million bags, which makes it the highest volume of bags managed in 2023. Also, Dubai Airport maintained its unbelievable success rate of 99.8 percent, with just 24 mishandled bags per 1000 visitors. It was over 95 percent of visitors experienced less than 7 minutes of waiting time at departure passport control. Also they experienced average waiting time at security check in departures and less than 4 minutes for 97.5 percent of visitors. 

As per the Airport Service Quality report, Dubai International Airport scored 4.5, which is the highest result obtained by the airport to date. On this, the

Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan, said,

“remarkable performance marks the successful and ahead-of-time completion of the airport’s recovery journey.”

London has again taken its position at Dubai’s top destination with about 3.7 million visitors which Riyadh then followed with more than 2.6 million visitors and Mumbai with 2.5 million visitors. CEO of Dubai Airports Paul Griffiths said that 2023 was a great year and appreciated DXB’s commitment to

“operational excellence, efficiency, innovation and delivering exemplary guest experience.”

The forecast for 2024 indicate that DXB will receive 88.8 million visitors this year, giving this hub a record-breaking 89.1 million visitors. 

Dubai was among the first cities to reopen after Covid-19 pandemic which helped it boost the tourism industry. Attractions like the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, and Burj Al-Arab, a luxury hotel, draw many visitors out of airport lounges.
