Dubai: Some Indian nationals flying with Emirates may now take use of a new pre-approved visa-on-arrival provision. According to an airline release on Thursday, February 1, the project enables select Indian passport holders to avoid immigration lines upon landing in Dubai and “breeze through customs.”
Eligible Indians get a 14-day visa on arrival online, and the service is only available to Indian passport holders who have booked their flight with Emirates.
Emirates clients may book their tickets on emirates.com or via a travel agency. When you make your reservation, you will obtain a booking reference, also known as a Passenger Name Record (PNR) number, which you will need to apply for visa pre-approval.
To apply for pre-approval of the visa, perform these steps:
- Go to www.emirates.com and click on ‘Manage’, then ‘Retrieve your booking’.
- Enter your last name and booking reference, or PNR.
- Select ‘Retrieve Booking’.
- Under ‘Additional Services’, choose the ‘Apply for a UAE Visa’ option.
- Click the ‘Continue to Visa Application’ button. You will be routed to the website of the Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC), which is run by VFS Global Services.
- Once on the website, you will be given information on the criteria you must meet in order to be eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE.
- You may apply for pre-approval by submitting the appropriate papers (given below) and paying for the service.
What is the Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC)
DVPC is VFS Global’s official facility recognized by Emirates and the Government of Dubai to process UAE visas using an internet portal connected to the Emirates website (www.emirates.com).
What are the visa-on-arrival requirements for Indian citizens?
According to the airline’s website, qualified Indian citizens with a standard passport valid for at least six months may receive a single entry, 14-day visa upon arrival.
Eligibility:
- Possesses an Indian passport and a six-month USA visa.
- Indian passport holder with a US green card valid for at least six months.
- Indian passport holder with a UK resident card valid for at least six months.
- Indian passport holder with an EU resident permit from one of the following countries valid for at least six months:
Countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal.
According to Emirates, the service costs US$63 (Dh231.40).
I’m not traveling with Emirates; can I still get a visa upon arrival?
Indian individuals holding a valid six-month US visa, US Green Card, EU Residency, or UK Residency may get a visa upon arrival in the UAE. You may get the visa at the airport or in advance from the UAE’s immigration authority. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this 14-day visa on arrival may be extended for an additional 14 days.
You may apply with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFAD). The procedure is totally online.
